Where did you grow up?
– I am originally from Grimes.
Schools attended?
– Dallas Center Grimes (2010), Central College (2014), Upper Iowa University (2018)

– My wife, Jill, and I have 2 kids, Bennett and Cora.
Favorite hobby outside of teaching/coaching?
– Some of my favorite hobbies are golfing, hanging out with friends and family, and watching all things Iowa State.
How did you get into the sport? When did you start playing?
– Some of my earliest memories with the sport are the elementary track & field days. I got into the sport starting in 7th grade and participated all the way through high school. From there I participated in Track & Field at Central College where I was primarily a 400 hurdler.
Favorite thing about coaching?
– My favorite part about coaching Track & Field is getting to share my love and passion for the sport. Everybody grows up playing the traditional team sports but there is something special about bringing together distance runners, sprinters, hurdlers, throwers, and jumpers and competing individually while contributing towards the larger team goals.
Favorite memory from coaching at DCG?
– I’d be crazy if I didn’t say winning the 2022 Class 3A State Championship. That team was special and they will always be the first State Championship team in our program history.
Most rewarding part of being a teacher/coach at DCG?
– I think the most rewarding part of being at DCG is that it is the only thing I’ve ever known. I went to school here my entire life. It’s the only place I’ve ever taught and coached. I take pride in being a Mustang and representing these communities that have played an immensely important part in my life.
Advice to a young player?
– The biggest piece of advice I could give to younger Mustangs looking to get into track & field is to not be afraid. This sport can be humbling at times but if you stick with it, the end results can be some of the most rewarding that any sport could provide.
