DCG High School Esports began competing within the Iowa High School Esports Association in the spring of 2022. Since that time, our teams have completed Varsity and JV seasons playing the following online video games:  Smite, Smash Bros, Rocket League, Overwatch2, and Mario Kart 8. Throughout the school year practices and competitions are held in our Esports Room at DCG High School, where we have 20 computers as well as 2 Nintendo Switch stations. There are three “seasons” (fall, winter and spring) that parallel the athletic seasons, allowing students to easily transition between esports and traditional sports.

Our Rocket League and Overwatch2 teams have been highly successful, with both having reached the Winter season In-person State Tournaments in both 2023 and 2024. Our 2023 Rocket League and 2024 Overwatch2 teams both finished in second place in those tournaments.
