How did you get into the sport? When did you start playing?

I started playing when I was about 8 years old as there weren’t a lot of soccer opportunities in Dallas Center at that time.  I enjoyed it and kept playing all through HS.  DCG formed a Varsity soccer team in the spring of 1994 and I was on that original team.

Favorite thing about coaching?

Consistently having “new” teams and watching them grow and gel together on and off the field.

Favorite memory from coaching at DCG?

There are a ton of great memories, but a vivid memory is getting a huge bear hug from Buttjer (DCG AD) after we won our first state championship.

Most rewarding part of being a teacher/coach at DCG?

Watching the transformation of players from their freshman year to their senior years, in their development of the game and the confidence they gain

Advice to a young player?

Be you!  No matter what level, win or lose, whatever it happens to be – enjoy the game and your teammates!  Your impact will be remembered for much more than the wins or losses you and your teammates had.
