DCG Football Coach Scott Heitland has received national recognition from two premier organizations!
Heitland was recently named the National Federation of High Schools’ 2024-25 Iowa State Football Coach of the Year! Heitland will receive his award at an upcoming Iowa Football Coaches Association Banquet. This is the first time Heitland’s received this award.
He is also one of eight finalists for the National High School Athletic Association’s National Coach of the Year in the sport of football! The eight finalists will gather together at a banquet in July, where one will be selected as the winner. Heitland was nominated for this award by his colleagues across the state.
Heitland led the Mustangs to a 7-2 regular season record in the 2025 season, guiding them to the Class 5A playoffs! This was the school’s first year in Class 5A. He’s led the DCG Football program for the last 22 years. Congratulations to Coach Heitland on these tremendous honors!
