Where did you grow up? Sully, IA

Schools attended? Lynnville- Sully HS, Simpson College

Who is in your family? Wife- Heather, Kids- Nash, Toby, Faith, Tucker

Favorite hobby outside of teaching/coaching? Hiking, biking, family livestock business

How did you get into the sport? I started running track in junior high. I played basketball and football as well as running track and cross country throughout junior high and high school.

Favorite thing about coaching? Seeing athletes grow as people over their high school career as well as watching a group of kids come together and support each other to achieve a common goal.

Favorite memory from coaching at DCG? I don’t think I could come up with one favorite memory, each season is special and has special memories. The program-defining moments I remember most were in 2015 when we placed in the top four for the first time coming in ranked 7th, 2018 our first year earning a team trophy, and most recently this season placing 3rd in our second year in class 4A.

Most rewarding part of being a teacher/coach at DCG? Watching kids build meaningful and lasting relationships with teammates. It’s also very rewarding anytime I get to catch up with alumni and learn about how they’re succeeding after high school.

Advice to a young player? Take the time to get to know your teammates and find ways you can help and support them. Keep working at whatever it is you want to achieve through the tough times and the good times, but always keep it in perspective. Lastly believe in yourself, you’re worth it and capable of far more than you think you are!
