Favorite hobby outside of teaching/coaching?

  • Spending time with my family, watching my kids compete in athletics.

How did you get into the sport? When did you start playing?

  • I’ve played every since I can remember.  I grew up participating in whatever sport was in season.  As I got older, I realized that I was much more passionate about basketball and started putting more time into that sport than others.  I played football, baseball and ran track in HS as well.

Favorite thing about coaching?

  • Watching teams go through a season and grow both on the floor and as a group.  I am a firm believer that positive relationships are the foundation of every great team and program.  Watching kids mature, create bonds with teammates, and grow into leaders while being a part of something bigger than themselves over the 4 years they are in high school is what I love the most.

Favorite memory from coaching at DCG?

  • Being able to coach in the state tournament the past 3 years and win a state championship are probably the most memorable.  Being able to help create such great memories for the players on those teams will always be special.

Most rewarding part of being a teacher/coach at DCG?

  • DCG is a special place to coach and teach.  The support our community shows our schools and our athletic teams is pretty remarkable.  We have great teachers who care about kids and also have extremely successful activities with great coaches.  The loyalty and the pride the district has is special and I feel fortunate to be a part of it.

Advice to a young player?
