Just a few days before their first game of the season, the DCG Softball team was notified that they would be playing in Class 5A for the 2026 season. A new challenge? Absolutely. But the Mustangs never backed down! It’s been an incredibly successful summer on the diamond, highlighted by an 11-3 regional final victory over Cedar Rapids Prairie. The win sends DCG to the Class 5A State Tournament, the first state appearance as a member of Class 5A in school history. Here are some highlights from that victory!
DCG earned the #4 seed in next week’s state tournament. They will take on #5 seed Cedar Rapids Kennedy in the opening round. This matchup is scheduled for 2:00 on Triton Field in Fort Dodge. Click here for the state tournament bracket. Go Mustangs!
